We had a great vacation and holiday and we crammed a lot into our away time. The Christmas markets were amazing and what I remembered so I was thrilled. I got to go back to visit my favorite Antik store and of course, I just had to bring a few things home with me. Oh and I found a couple new favorite stores as well. The green handblown demijohn had to come home with us and has already been made into a wonderful lamp for the living room. You should have seen us wrestling that thing on the plane in the overhead bin. Mark and I both winced every time someone opened the bin because we were sure it would get broken before we got it home.
When we moved to Germany I had such expectations about all the antique candy container santas that I'd find and that sure didn't happen! However I did discover an artist that made reproductions from his families old molds and they were great so I started a collection of them. So imagine my delight when I realized that I could tour his studio and buy directly from him this trip. I was so excited and Mark was such a great sport to drive a couple of hours out of our way so I could go. It was AMAZING!
So many to chose from and it's was overwhelming trying to decide which ones to add to my collection. But cash only and available suitcase room helped me make a decision. They are just works of art and made the trip back to the states just fine with the exception of poor Peter Rabbit. Mark assures me that he can fix him just as good as new.
These are the ones I collected before we came back to the states.
Ok enough for now and I promise to post later this week about our trip back home to Arkansas for family time. Sigh....the kids are all young adults now and so much fun to visit.
