Welcome

Welcome to my little world! My name is Donna and I'm the mother of one very spoiled kitty named Clarice. I was a banker for over 20 years but now I'm a SAHM and loving every minute of it. I'm a super, huge Bon Jovi fan and an avid cross stitcher. I love decorating my home with flea market finds, primitive style items and vintage items. My hubby says if the last three generations threw it out as trash it'll end up in our house as a decoration.

Happy New Year

In my normal fashion, I'm a day late and a dollar short!  The holiday season just really threw me for a loop and rightly so because it involved 2 international flights and 2 domestic flights plus numerous dr, dentist, chiropractor,ext....  And the most important one, a hair appointment!!!!!!  I love Jenny and the color we chose this time around.  The water is so hard here in Germany that highlights/lowlights just wasn't gonna make the cut so we went full dye of red!  I'm back to my semi normal, younger days hair color but that's all of my body that has returned to younger days. LOL! I'm like so many of us that started the new year off with big plans of getting into shape and losing weight only to be derailed a few days later by a candy bar sale.  I'm trying to loosely follow the weight watcher's diet that was so successful for me a few years ago by eating fresh foods and watching my portion size.

I also finely got a diagnosis on some of the issues that I have been battling for the last 3 years.  I have a dangerously low B12 level along with high liver enzymes and high iron counts.  I have to go back to Atlanta next month to see my dr for some more tests.  I have been having tremors in my hands, burning itching feet, memory issues, balance and lightheaded issues, rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, depression, easy bruising and bladder issues for the last 3 years but we have always blamed most of my issues on stress from my job, Mark's job, international move, ect.....well it's not, it's actually a medical condition.  I seriously thought I was losing my mind and going thru early dementia or Alzheimer.  All I need to do is take a supplement until I go back to see the dr next month.  I already feel so much better and I'm not even taking the amount that he prescribed because I had to mail order it.  I can't wait until it arrives later this week so I can see even more results.

I also came down with the flu while we were home in December and I basically missed the last week of our trip due to being so sick.  I went to the dr right away and got started on medicine so that I would be feeling better before the flight back to Germany.  Today's the first day that I have felt 100% better so of course, I have spent the day cleaning the apartment, shopping for food, doing laundry and catching up on blog reading.  I see on the news where the flu is sweeping the nation this year so who knows if I was exposed while on the plane or back home but all I can say is it is a nasty bugger.  Stay well my friends and get your flu shot if you haven't already.

Now for more exciting 2013 news:
I have decided to take part in Peggy's  "Creative Pay It Forward" that she has posted on her blog, Kentucky Sampler .

The first five of my friends to comment will receive a random gift from me sometime during the year...maybe something handcrafted, maybe a book, baked goodies, a surprise! Your gift will arrive whenever the mood strikes me without warning. Here's the only requirement: You have to post this on your blog as well and commit do doing the same for five of your friends. Please email me with your address if I don't already have it.

The first five people who leave a comment saying you are interested in joining me and who also posts about it on their blog will get a random gift me from me sometime during the year.  It will be great fun surprising someone during the year so please join me in spreading a little kindness!

Well that's all for now boys and gals because I need to go start a big, ole pot of beef stew for dinner.  It's lightly snowing here and just a warm cornbread/stew kind of day.

  1. I'm happy to learn that you've found some resolution to the health issues you've been suffering. Some of my similar issues were related to low Vit-D. SNOW? I'm a little jealous - we had 70s here in SC. Be well!

  2. Donna, I'd be willing to participate in the PIF with some home made crafty love. At first 5 seemed overwhelming but I think I'd be able to magane that.
